Get Back to Me was born out of the frustration of trying to find independent places to stay when travelling for business and leisure, in the UK by founder Anne Corbett.
"I have to travel quite a lot on my own and prefer something more personal than large chain hotels, however it can be very time consuming to source and book B&Bs via the internet." Says Anne.
With Get Back to Me we started with a blank canvas and brainstormed what would be the easiest way for guests to use the internet to source and book accommodation.
- I know where and when I need to travel.
- I know how much I want to spend.
- I don't want to spend ages browsing, phoning, emailing, only to discover places are booked.
- I want B&Bs with vacancies to get back to me - fast!
We then did the same for accommodation providers by asking: What do small, independent providers need to help fill their rooms?
- We want the system to be simple.
- We cannot always respond by email immediately.
- We prefer telephone contact as we can discuss individual needs at the time.
- We don't want to have to update online diaries on a daily basis.
- We don't want to pay money up front, with no idea if we will receive any bookings, or pay15-20% commission on bookings.
These points gave us the basis of a business model. Following this we carried out extensive market research, made some changes and tested the system fully. Get Back to Me launched in September 2010 with a fully automated system that uses both internet and phone technology.
We take stringent action to keep our costs down so we can pass the benefits on to accommodation providers. For example rather than having a call centre dealing with enquiries, we ask that you send us an email and we will get back to you just as soon as we can.
